The coopérative
The Cooperative was founded in 1932 to create ripening cellars for producers in the region of L'Etivaz and market its members’ cheeses.
The first cellars were built in 1934 with a capacity for 3,200 wheels. A first expansion in 1974 added room for 3,500 more wheels; a second expansion in 1984 brought the total capacity to 14,000 wheels and a third expansion, in 2004, now provides space for 20,000 wheels.
In 2008, the Cooperative has 72 members. It is administered by a committee of 7 members, all of them producers. Two commissions, one for quality and another for advertising, second the committee.
